Blessed Peter Donders (1807 - 1887) was a Dutch missionary who served the plantation slaves, native inhabitants, and lepers of Suriname (a small country just north of Brazil) from 1841 until his death. For 14 years he regularly visited plantations, military garrisons, and the indigenous people who lived along the rivers. In 1856, he volunteered to minister to people with leprosy and remained with them for 28 years.
As a missionary, he is depicted holding a cross and a Bible.
Blessed Peter Donders’ feast day is celebrated on January 14th.
The window was donated by the Raven family.
