The Sick and Homebound Ministry takes Jesus in the form of the Eucharist to those unable to come to him. Jesus himself tells us that when we help those in need, it is then that we help Him. 

 

There are about 19-20 Ministers for the Sick and the Homebound. These Extraordinary Ministers take care of private homes as well as convalescent homes. 

 

In the Parish there are about five convalescent homes in which different ministers take Holy Communion to the Catholic patients in these homes. We also take care of the two hospitals: Central Valley General and Hanford Community Medical Center, from Monday thru Friday. 

Our Director of Sick and Shut In Ministry, takes Holy Communion to the two hospitals on the weekends. Different ministers take Holy Communion to the hospitals during the week. 

 

Recently an Assisted Living Home has just been opened. There are three Catholic patients in this new home that are visited weekly with Holy Communion. Each individual Eucharistic Minister has private homes to visit with Holy Communion. Whenever a minister is not able to visit, another will substitute so that the parishioner will not miss Holy Communion. 

 

Mass is held every month at Hacienda Convalescent Home and Remington Retirement Home. The Hacienda Mass is on the first Wednesday of every month and the Remington Mass is on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, both at 10:00 a.m.

 

The Ministry also has an Anointing Mass twice a year - in March and in October. 

 

At these Masses any person who is sick and wants to receive the Sacrament of Anointing may attend the Mass and then joins everybody at the Soup and Sandwich Luncheon afterwards. The soup and sandwiches are provided by the parishioners of the parish.
